In 2019, the Jockey Club, who are the largest horse racing organisation in the United Kingdom, announced their plans to award the biggest bonus in jump racing of £1 million to the team behind any horse that manages to win all three of the most prestigious Grade One staying chases in a single National Hunt season. The race was first run in February of 1937, taking its name from the reigning British monarch at the time, King George VI.
